The Story Behind This Blog

If someone asked me where my love for travelling began, I honestly wouldn’t know what to answer.

It wasn’t one unforgettable destination or one life-changing trip. Looking back, I think it started long before I ever packed my own suitcase.

It started with my mum.

She has always loved travelling. Even now, in her seventies, she has no plans to slow down, and I truly hope I’ll still have that same curiosity for the world when I’m her age. Growing up, I remember watching her leave for different trips while I stayed at home. I couldn’t wait for her to come back and tell me about the places she had visited, the food she had tried and the little adventures she had along the way. Every story made me even more curious about the world outside my own.

Then, when I was old enough, we took a bus trip together to our neighbouring country, Lithuania, to visit the Dolphinarium. Looking back now, it probably sounds like a very ordinary day trip. But to little me, it felt like the biggest adventure in the world. I still remember sitting by the bus window, looking outside and thinking how exciting it was simply to be somewhere new.

I don’t know if I realised it at the time, but that was the moment a dream quietly started growing inside me.

One day, I wanted to see the whole world.

Maybe that’s why I’ve been thinking about starting this blog for so many years.

As long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to share my adventures with others. I just didn’t know how, when, or what that would look like. We all know how difficult it is to take the first step towards a dream you’ve carried with you for years. There’s always a reason to wait a little longer, to prepare a little more, or to convince yourself that the timing isn’t right.

But the truth is, the perfect moment never really comes. Sometimes you simply have to create it yourself.

So here I am, writing my very first blog post. This time, not just for myself to save in a folder and forget about one day, but for all of you who love travelling, exploring new places and dreaming big just as much as I do.

For many years, travelling was simply my favourite hobby. It was my escape from everyday life and a chance to replace the familiar with something completely different. Every trip gave me new experiences, unforgettable memories and a different perspective on the world.

But every single time I came home, I realised the same thing: travelling wasn’t just something I enjoyed. It had quietly become a part of who I am.

If I had to describe myself in a few words, I wouldn’t call myself a perfectionist. I love spontaneous ideas, unexpected adventures and saying yes to new experiences. But there is one thing I know about myself with complete certainty.

I absolutely love planning.

For me, travelling doesn’t begin when I board the plane. It begins months before. With Google Maps open on my laptop. With dozens of browser tabs. With researching sunrise times, finding the best local cafés, planning hiking routes, reading reviews and searching for those hidden places that never make it into the guidebooks.

If you’re travelling with me, you can be pretty sure that almost everything has been planned in advance. We’ll know where to find the best pizza in town, what time the sun rises, which viewpoint is worth waking up at 5 a.m. for, and how to make the most of every single day.

And honestly, I enjoy planning the trip almost as much as the trip itself.

I’m definitely not someone who books a flight a week before departure. My trips often begin months, sometimes even a year, before I actually leave. Every destination becomes a little project that I genuinely enjoy creating.

Maybe that’s what makes me a little different from many other travel bloggers.

And that’s exactly what I want to share with you.

Not just beautiful destinations, but the entire journey. From the very first idea, to finding flights, choosing where to stay, building detailed itineraries, discovering hidden gems and finally coming home with a camera full of photos and a heart full of memories.

I’m not someone who likes to rush through a destination just to tick famous landmarks off a list. Of course I love seeing the iconic places, but I’m just as excited to discover quiet streets, local cafés, hidden viewpoints and places that most people walk straight past.

I often create my own hiking routes and walking itineraries because what I find online doesn’t always match the experience I’m looking for. Every traveller is different, and we all explore the world in our own way. For me, travelling isn’t about seeing everything. It’s about experiencing a place in a way that feels meaningful.

That’s why this blog won’t just be a collection of beautiful travel photos. It will be about everything that happens behind the scenes.

The plans that didn’t work out. The mistakes we made. The unexpected detours that became our favourite memories. The tiny cafés we found by accident. The hiking trails that were worth every step. The restaurants I’d happily fly back to. And all those little moments that could never fit into a single Instagram post.

I’ve always believed that the real story is in the little details. Those are the moments we remember the longest, and those are the moments I want to share with you.

If even one of my stories encourages someone to finally book the trip they’ve been dreaming about, take that first hike, or simply believe that those big dreams really are worth chasing, then this blog will have achieved exactly what I hoped it would.

So, whether you’re here looking for travel inspiration, detailed itineraries, hidden gems, or simply a reminder that the world is full of incredible places waiting to be explored…

Welcome.

I’m so happy you’re here, and I can’t wait to share this journey with you.
